A Wedding Anniversary…Sisters

A wedding anniversary.

50 years.

My sister and her husband

so dear.

Sisters

A Vermont visit.

We sit side by side.

No space between.

Sisters

In disbelief of

the swift passage of time.

We once shared a bedroom in

our parents’ home.

Each night we chatted till we slept.

Sisters

Their wedding album tinged with age.

We two have aged.

The crackle of each page.

One photo to

the next.

We paused often.

Parents’ loving faces.

His and hers.

Reminisce we did

remembering the day.

Sisters

A beautiful bride she was.

Beautiful she is.

A bridesmaid in lilac with fresh flowers

in my hair.

Sisters

Attendees dated in their dress.

Their stories reach our heart.

We confess.

Sisters

We spy neighbors.

Business associates.

Family members too.

We giggle at our memory.

We share so many memories.

Sisters

We laughed so hard.

And loved even harder.

We shared so many lifetimes.

We know each other like no other.

Sisters
